Fellowships

Each academic year, Residents are selected as Program, Resident, and Peer Counselor Fellows. Fellows learn to draw upon their strengths as intercultural communicators to plan programs that build community and facilitate interaction among Residents.

These leadership roles carry out I-House’s mission to make life at I-House a rewarding experience that embraces respect, empathy, and moral courage.

Program Fellows

Program Fellows plan, develop and implement diverse areas of programming for the I-House community. Program Fellows work as a team with PRL staff to plan events that facilitate interaction and cross-cultural connection and collaboration among residents throughout the year. There are two different kinds of Program Fellows, all of whom are responsible for developing and running community events with the PRL team: Legacy Fellows and Cultural Program Fellows.

Legacy Fellows assist with all aspects of planning and running legacy events such as Sunday Suppers, Fall Fiesta, the Winter Jubilee, and Night of Nations, in addition to other programs like Orientation, Fireside Chats, and Networking and Professional Development mixers, workshops, and seminars. Cultural Program Fellows assist with monthly events such as Resident Round Tables, Salon Nights, holiday and cultural activities, and other community programming such as Ice Cream Socials and Dinners with Friends.

Resident Fellows

Resident Fellows assist in creating and foster a safe, fun, and welcoming community for the residents by encouraging residents to mediate interpersonal conflicts, helping develop natural support networks within I-House, and motivating residents to make new friends! Each Resident Fellow is assigned to one or two floors to serve as a representative of I-House to their floor members, ensuring all residents understand I-House policies, procedures, and community standards.

Resident fellows are expected to hold one monthly floor event focused on community building and assist with some legacy events at I-House.

Fellowship Retreat, 2023

Program and Resident Fellows must have lived at I-House for one academic year to ensure familiarity with the I-House mission.

Peer Counselors

The Resident Support Services (RSS) team consists of Peer Counselor Fellows that are graduate students or working professionals in the field of mental health who are recommended by their programs, employers, or other sponsors who can testify to their skills.

Summer Fellows

Summer Fellows serve as representatives of International House for all of our summer residents, leading by example and demonstrating I-House’s mission of Respect, Empathy, and Moral Courage. Summer fellows ensure all residents understand I-House’s policies, procedures, and community standards, and are expected to organize one monthly community-building event for the entire I-House community and assist the PRL team with other summer events as needed.

Summer fellows must have served as a Program or Resident Fellow during the previous academic year.
