Group Accommodation

International House welcomes organizations interested in hosting their groups at the House during their time studying or working in New York City.

Group members staying at International House get more than just housing; residents that are a part of groups gain professional development in their respective fields of study while making a commitment to expand their worldview and cultural awareness to create a more secure, peaceful, and collaborative global coexistence in the future.

Current and former partners include New York Life, CUNY, The American Museum of Natural History, The Asian Cultural Council, SIBDS at Columbia University, DZ Bank, The International Peace Institute, Middle Tennessee State University, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, among others.

Please note that group accommodation is for organizations only. Group accommodations at I-House are NOT for individual groups of students interested in living together.

If you are a part of a group of students interested in living together at I-House, you may all apply separately, but will not be placed in a suite together, as this negates International House’s mission of living in a diverse residential community to foster cross-cultural understanding.

Admission Requirements

All I-House residents, regardless of affiliation, must meet the eligibility requirements to be admitted to the House.

Before finalizing bookings, group leaders should first ensure that their group members meet the following criteria to be eligible to become a resident member of International House.

Application Requirements

While group leaders are responsible for ensuring that all of their students, scholars, interns, or trainees are eligible to live at International House, all group members must create a profile on our application portal and submit the following to ensure a smooth check-in process:

FAQs

Do groups living at I-House have to meet the same eligibility criteria as single applicants?

February 1, 2023

Yes, group members must be graduate students, visiting scholars, interns, or trainees to live at International House during the Academic Year.

Can I reserve rooms for a group for less than the minimum length of stay of 30 days?

February 1, 2023

No. All residents living at I-House, regardless of affiliation, must stay for our minimum length of stay of 30 days.

What is the maximum/minimum number of group members International House can accommodate?

February 1, 2023

The maximum number of group members that can be accommodated is approximately 50 people; this way, we can ensure that there is availability for other groups and single applicants to become a part of our global community. International House does not have a minimum number of group members we can accommodate.

Is the North or the South building better for group accommodation?

February 1, 2023

International House recommends reserving rooms in the South building for group accommodations. It is more likely all group members can be assigned to live on the same floor and can have the same sized rooms when living in the South building.

I am interested in reserving apartment suites for my group. Can they live in the same suites together in the same sized rooms?

February 1, 2023

Unfortunately, that is not possible; all North suites are made up of 2-4 different-sized rooms: small, medium, large, and extra-large. If a group is interested in having their members live in the same suites together in the North building, group members would need to live in different-sized rooms from each other. If a group is interested in having their members live in the same sized rooms in the North building, the group members would not be able to live in the same suites together.
